Staff Associate Position

School of Social Work Staff Associate Position

The Columbia School of Social Work invites applications for a Staff Associate position under both the Fragile Families and Child Wellbeing Study and the New York City Longitudinal Study of Well-being. 

The Staff Associate provides strong research and technical support for the studies of poverty and family well-being under the guidance of the PI, Co-investigator, Project Director and Survey Director. 

Quantitative Research: Using experience and knowledge of Stata, R, and other statistical programs the Staff Associate will create, under supervision, survey weights and missing data imputations for two projects: 1) the Fragile Families and Child Wellbeing Study, and 2) the New York City Longitudinal Study of Well-being, and its associated supplemental surveys. The Staff Associate may also be asked to assist in estimating empirical models, hypothesis testing, interpretation of results, and drafting reports of research findings based upon estimation results. (80%) 

Technical Writing Skills: Using experience and knowledge of research methods and academic writing, the Staff Associate will, under the supervision of the PI and Project Director, be responsible for providing technical write-ups of weighting and imputation methods, and any other quantitative results, as necessary. (20%) 

Candidates for staff officer of research positions are expected to have at least four years of professional experience in the field or the equivalent amount of training and relevant experience.
