Backing Up Files

Backing Up Files

Morningside: CUIT provides a service called Connected Data Protector, which is designed for projects to backup and sync non-sensitive files. The service is designed to give projects small amounts of backup (the standard is 5Gb per user of the project). This allows users to select important (but still nonsensitive) documents and files to be automatically backed up and restored if necessary.

CUMC: The best way to backup files is using the Shared Drive, although this is not automatic. Currently the SpiderOak pilot project can be used to automatically backup and restore files and data, but only provides 2GB of storage per user at this time. Users and projects can purchase additional space through SpiderOak. SpiderOak is currently being certified for sensitive data by CUMC Security but can still be used for non-sensitive data.
