CPRC Seminar - October 15

CPRC invites the Columbia community to its next seminar, which will occur on Thursday, October 15, at 12:00pm.

Melissa J. Marschall, Associate Professor of Political Science at Rice University, will present work entitled, "Immigrant Parent Involvement in American Schools."

About Melissa J. Marschall:
Melissa Marschall is Associate Professor of Political Science at Rice University and in 2009-10, Visiting Scholar at the Russell Sage Foundation in New York. Marschall's research focuses on local politics, educational policy, participation, and issues of race and ethnicity. Her book, Choosing Schools: Consumer Choice and the Quality of American Schools (Princeton University Press - coauthored with Mark Schneider and Paul Teske) was recipient of the Policy Studies Association Aaron Wildavsky Award for the Best Policy Book in 2000-2001. She is currently writing two books, one examining immigrant parent involvement in schools, communities and politics and the other analyzing minority incorporation in local politics.
