Biography
Afshin Zilanawala is a doctoral
student in Social Policy Analysis at the School of Social Work. Her
research interests are in urban poverty, economic resources, and public
policies and their influence on child and family well-being. Her current
work examines family structure and family income packaging using the
Fragile Families and Child Well-being study. She is also working with
Professor Mincy at the Center for Research on Fathers, Children, and
Family Well-Being, examining Black male underperformance in NYC public
schools. Afshin earned her B.A. in Psychology from Wellesley College
(2004) and her M.S. in Social Work at Columbia University (2007).
