Christopher Wimer

Biography

Christopher Wimer is a Research Scientist at CPRC. His research focuses on poverty measurement, family's economic well-being, and the role of safety net and other social policies in disadvantaged populations.

Dr. Wimer is currently involved in a new study following a sample of 2,500 New York City residents that will track measures of income poverty, material hardship, and child and family well-being beginning in the Fall of 2012. He is also working with the Fragile Families and Child Wellbeing Study to understand the impacts of the recession on urban families, as well as developing a series of research briefs to disseminate these findings to diverse audiences.

Dr. Wimer's research has been published in numerous peer-reviewed outlets, including Criminology, Developmental Psychology, and the Journal of Research on Adolescence. He is also the co-editor of The Great Recession, published by the Russell Sage Foundation in 2011.
