The Center for Disease Control (CDC), partnering with the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Canadian Public Health Association (CPHA), created an web-based application called the Global Tobacco Surveillance System (GTSS Data) to house and display data from tobacco-related surveys around the world. The GTSS, which began development in 1999, contains global data regarding four population groups. The surveys include the Global Youth Tobacco Survey (GYTS), Global School Personnel Survey (GSPS), Global Health Professions Sudent Survey (GHPSS), and the Global Adult Tobacco Survey (GATS). The GTSS includes over 20 data topics regarding tobacco including tobacco use, adtertising, cessation, secondhand smoke, school policies,a nd perceptions of smoking behaviors.
The GTSS fact sheets & datasets can be found on the GTSS website using the search tools. You can also find available tobacco based datasets on population groups and survey sites organized by year below. All fact sheets are PDFs and all datasets are provided in ZIP files.
