Alastair K. Ager

Professor of Clinical Population and Family Health


Professor Ager is Professor of Population and Family Health with the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University Medical Center. He has worked in the field of global health, humanitarian intervention and development for over 25 years with experience as a lecturer, researcher and consultant across sub-Saharan Africa, south Asia and the Middle East working with a range of intergovernmental, non-governmental and governmental agencies. He currently researches in the areas of refugee mental health, evaluation of humanitarian interventions, and the role of faith communities in supporting recovery. He leads a CPRC-funded collaborative research project: Tracking refugee adjustment, adaptation and integration on resettlement in the US, working with Dr Lisa Bates of the Department of Epidemiology and Dr Yao Lu of the Department of Sociology.
