Tey Meadow

Assistant Professor of Sociology


Tey Meadow is an assistant professor of sociology at Columbia. University. Her scholarship examines the ways social institutions respond to challenges to gender and sexual variation and classification. Her publications in Gender & Society, Sexualities, Politics & Society and Contexts include analyses of the ways U.S. courts and administrative state agencies cope with individuals who seek to alter their legal gender, and the comparative law and politics of same-sex marriage and family diversity in South Africa and the U.S. Her first book, entitled Trans Kids: Being Gendered in the 21st Century, will be published by the University of California Press in early 2018.
